What is World Vision?

World Vision is the largest evangelical Christian relief and development organization in the world. We are: Christ centered, community based, child focused.

Although no profession of faith or conversion to Christianity is required in order for a child or its family to receive assistance, everything done by World Vision is done openly displaying the character of Christ--caring for the poor with no strings attached. This allows World Vision to operate in countries such as China and Morocco where it is not possible to openly establish churches. But countries such as these are where many of the poorest of the world's poor live. World Vision is also active in Central and South America, the Middle East, Europe and several of the former Soviet republics. Whenever possible, whether through direct teaching programs or through the curiosity of the individual recipients of World Vision's assistance, a direct sharing of the gospel message is available.

World Vision works within the structure of existing communities, establishing Area Development Programs (ADPs). World Vision concentrates its efforts in areas where governments or community leaders request partnership in order to improve the lives of their citizens. A specific, long-term plan to self-sufficiency is established, and then funded through the sponsorship of the village's children.

The children are provided clean water, a secure food supply, basic health and dental care, clothing, education and/or vocational training. The children’s' parents are provided with vocational and agricultural training to provide skills and surplus goods to establish a steady source of income for the family.

Our Personal Involvement with World Vision
Joel and I began to sponsor a little boy from Ethiopia named Bukulo Godebo about ten years ago. He was a precious brown-eyed little boy who needed a family to love and support him. He’s fifteen years old now and our correspondence with him is something our kids look forward to tremendously. There is not a day that goes by that our three children don’t lift Bukulo up in prayer, praying for daily provision for him and most importantly that he would come to known Jesus as his Savior. Imagine their excitement just recently when we received a letter from Bukulo greeting us in the “name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ!” Our sponsorship of Bukulo has been a huge blessing for our entire family!

Tell Me More About Child Sponsorship!
Sponsorship of a World Vision child is so easy. It's just $30 per month. That commitment will provide clean water, nutritious food, clothing, and health care to a child. Sponsored children are also provided with school fees and supplies so they can stay in school as well as age-appropriate, biblically based education and practical life-skills training. I am often asked, "how much of my $30 actually goes to my child?" This past year a little over 87% of every dollar that was donated to child sponsorship went the benefit your child. All donations to World Vision are 100% tax deductible.

All we need is your name, address and phone number in order to match you with a needy child. We will turn your sponsorship information over directly to the World Vision organization and you will begin to receive more information about your child and his or her ADP as well as statements tracking your gifts for your tax records. When you receive your first packet of information you may choose to make your monthly gift by credit card, by automatic draft to your bank account or by check. FYI...sponsoring by credit card or automatic withdrawal saves the World Vision organization approximately $12-$18 in overhead per sponsorship per year. Considering that the majority of the world's population exists on less than $1 per day, this savings adds up to many more people being helped. Please contact us and begin your sponsorship of a needy child today!
